HONEY BAKED HAM RECIPE

Ingredients

For the Ham

  • 1 fully cooked bone-in ham (8–10 lbs), spiral-sliced preferred

  • 1 cup water or apple juice (for roasting pan)

For the Honey Glaze

  • 1 cup honey

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar or orange juice

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • ½ tsp nutmeg

  • ½ tsp ground cloves (optional, strong)

  • ½ tsp black pepper


Instructions

1. Preheat Oven

2. Warm the Ham

  • Place the ham cut side down in a roasting pan.

  • Pour 1 cup water or apple juice into the bottom.

  • Cover tightly with foil.

  • Bake 12–15 minutes per pound (usually 1½–2 hours) just to heat through.

3. Make the Glaze

In a saucepan, heat together:

  • Honey

  • Brown sugar

  • Butter

  • Dijon

  • Vinegar/juice

  • Cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves

  • Black pepper

Simmer 3–5 minutes, stirring until glossy and slightly thickened.

4. Glaze the Ham

  • After the initial bake, remove foil.

  • Brush a heavy layer of glaze all over the ham, letting it drip between slices.

  • Bake 15 minutes, uncovered.

5. Caramelize

  • Brush with more glaze.

  • Bake another 10–15 minutes, until shiny and caramelized.

  • Optional: Broil 1–2 minutes for a deeper crust — watch closely!

6. Rest & Serve

  • Let rest 10 minutes before slicing.

  • Spoon extra glaze from the pan over the slices.

Rinse Ham and place in baking pan. Pour ginger ale over ham. Pin Pineapples to ham with toothpicks. (you will probably not use them all) Mix brown sugar with heavy syrup from can of pineapples and pour over the ham. Sprinkle ham with nutmeg and cinnamon (about a Tbs each). Use a spoon to evenly mix the mixture in the bottom of the pan. Cover with foil and bake. The baked ham recipe is ready to serve...enjoy it !
