BAKED HAM RECIPE AND SCALLOPED POTATOES

BAKED HAM RECIPE AND SCALLOPED POTATOES

Why This Combination Works

The savory-sweet baked ham balances beautifully with rich, tender scalloped potatoes. Slow baking keeps the ham juicy while the potatoes absorb cream, butter, and cheese for a luxuriously comforting side.

BAKED HAM

Ingredients

  • 1 fully cooked bone-in ham (8–10 lb)

  • ½ cup water or apple juice (for pan)

Classic Ham Glaze

Ham Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C).

  2. Place ham fat-side up on a rack in a roasting pan.

  3. Add water or apple juice to the pan.

  4. Score ham in a diamond pattern.

  5. Cover loosely with foil and bake 15–18 minutes per pound, until internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C).

  6. Mix glaze ingredients.

  7. During the final 30–40 minutes, remove foil and brush ham generously with glaze every 10–15 minutes.

  8. Allow glaze to caramelize until golden.

  9. Rest 15 minutes before slicing.

Pro Tips for Best Results

  • Slice potatoes thin and evenly for uniform cooking.

  • Yukon Golds give extra creaminess.
